Being a teacher requires responsibility for students. Teacher can have huge influence over students, so students can be changed a lot by teacher's help and guidance. The primary role of teacher is to impart students knowledge for their intellectual development. In addition to that, teacher should provide them enough support and help for their emotional, social, and behavioral development

I think that being a teacher means not only delivering knowledge to students but also helping them realize the value of human being, which they can not acquire from books or other resources.

In my case, I used to being called "Hyung-nim," which means 'older brother' in Korean, by my high school boys because I made them feel comfortable and relaxed in my class. The reason why I try to make an enjoyable class atmosphere is that I believe they can learn more when they don't get stressed especially in the language classroom.

My goal as an English teacher is to make my students realize that English is not only an important subject but also an essential communication tool so they become very interested in learning English voluntarily.

1. To be a teacher. It means I should have a generosity to embrace students' faults and have a wisdom to judge what the best things are for students and sometimes should endure any difficulty and a hard time.

2. I am not a good teacher yet. Because I have taught just for 4 years, from now on, I have made a lot of mistakes for students. Sometimes, I conldn't control my emotion when some students made me upset. I have tried many kinds of teaching method, however, it didn't work well. But, I think I always try to do my best to make them learn English more efficiently and give useful materials to them. Now, I am on the progressive point to be a better teacher.

Hello, my name is Moon. I'm teaching at Sangok Girls' Middle School. I'm very glad to have a chance to learn TESOL at the Humber College. If fact, I answered I wanted to be a teacher when someone asked me what my future dream was. But after being a teacher, I've realized that it's too hard thing to teach. I think that a teacher does not just teaching but be able to communicate and understand stdudents well. To understand students is very important for teaching. I've been just 5 years to teach, so I don't have enough charisma and ability to control students well. But I think I have love mind toward the students. I love my students and that's why I want to learn more and more here that I could teach my students better than before. As a teacher, I want to develop myself till the day of retirement. Thank you for reading.

To teach students is difficult because we always have to show our good behavior and good attitude even if we can't do in some situations. Also we have to make students follow rules. However,we have to try to do our best to guide and lead students.

I would like to begin by saying that all teachers always have to teach their students to make the improving all the subjects through their teaching materials. Next they have to do their best for their students all the time by showing model of their lifestyle and I want to show all my students to my experiences gained through my life during my career.

To be a teacher means to be a patient and to have passion and responsibility. Knowledge is important to teach the students, but it's not enough. In order to response our students' behavior, we should be patient continuously. If we don't have passion of teaching, we will be sick and tired of teaching students easily.
In addition, we can have strong infulence to our students at all times. Some stuents count on the teachers when they decide their future universoties or jobs. So teachers should be very careful to guide our students. That is sometimes a big budden to teachers. So it becomes much harder and harder to be a good teacher. Patience, passion and responsibility are very hard things for common poeple to have.

As Jung hyen said, a teacher has lots of impact to students. So a teacher, I think should show a way to go right to them. That means teacher should be honest and open-minded. Therefore, as an English teachr I always try to give my students inspiration of their future job or life. A teacher can not be prefect but should do his/her best to lead students right way.
These days, English is a very important tool to live in this world village. However I think we should not forget our identity. That should be the most important part of our education. More and more young teachers forget about that, and sometimes mislead our students to the wrong directions. Actually English is not our goal but a just tool. I hope we, as a teacher should not foget that.

HI, nice to meet you.
My name is Sooyeun, Chae. You can call me Sue. During your presentation, I could think about my classes in Korea and have creative ideas about my classes. Thanks for giving me a chance to know about other ways of teaching.

To me, Being a teacher has lots of meanings. Students can learn from their teachers not only knowlege but also humanism. So Teachers should have something special to do their works, Since teachers are working for human-beings, not for machines. That would be a merit and also a challege. Knowing a lot is one thing, but teaching well is another.

I am a English teacher and now I am in Canada to study English. That is my question. Even My major is English, I am still worried about my English ability. However I want to be a good teacher, that's why I'm here. I want my students to take advantages of me, furthermore they can learn from me a lot.

Teaching students is very hard and tough but It is one of the most worthy things in the world because Teacher can have a great impact on studens' lives and encourage them to see their own potentials and challenge their lives continously.
Teacher is the person who never give up teaching even though students sometimes give up their learning from them.

Hi, Irene. I'm Sok Yon in your class. ^^

What were the question again? Let me see..
(I'm peeking the note of the teacher next to me. ^^)

1. What does it mean to be a teacher?
=> It means a lot. :) Teaching was not the prefession I started right fresh out of collge. I've "been there, done that", literally, if I exaggerate it a bit. Only when I worked for companies in a nice suit did I find that I'm not the kind of person who pursues to walk up the corporate ladder or a big fortune. Satisfying my thirst for knowledge could not stop there; teaching turned out to be the right profession for me who is eager to keep learning and interact with "innocent" little human beings.^^ Although I am sometimes down in the dumps at home, I start to wear all smiles the minute I pull over my car on the driveway to school I work, for no reasons at all.

2. Who are you as a teacher?
=> I could dare to say that I'm a "born" teacher. It does not necessarily mean I am talented for teaching, but rather I mean I enjoy teaching just as I read the novels by Nicholas Sparks, whose storyline is a bit corny, though. :) I am often asked how I could keep composure even when dealing with impolite trouble-making kids. On the other hand, too much freedom is given to my students, which sometimes leades to some trouble. I try hard to discipline them, but it's hard for me since I'm the very one who loathe to be dictated and confined to old traditions. That's me!!

As an English teacher in korea, I felt some burden. Everytime when I think of my students, I felt sorry
because of the big taskes they have especially in English. But I also confess that I really had no idea what I should give them. And that's one of the the main reasons I came here. After this course I want to give my student some hope in studying English. Also I need to know what I want, what I have to, and how I work with my students.

I want to be a teacher who is able to give inspiration to students. To me, teaching students means to help students have dreams and to support them to pursue their dreams. To be a big inspiration, I should be someone whom my students can respect for. Because of that, I try to do my best to develope my knowledge academically and I also try to expand my experiences in various fields. I hope that my students get some help through my experiences.

Hello! Nice to meet you. I'm Suhong. I'm very excited to have new experience in Humber and to learn English teaching methodoligies. It must be a hard time for me, but I'm already ready to do it. I hope I can enjoy my new life in Canada as well as learn about teaching methodologies.

In my opinion, being a teacher means that they are the lighthouse for the students. Without lighthouse, every ship cannot get to its destination on the ocean. Likewise, without teachers, almost students get lost and cannot find way how to achieve their goals because teachers show them where to go and how to get there.

Finally, I'll let you know about me as a teacher. I have very queit and shy personality, so sometimes I felt that I'm not a suitable person who teaches languages. However, apart from my quiet personality, I'm very good at listening to students. So students usually want to share their own troubles with me. Every time I try to be considerate to my students.

Being a teacher is really a great blessing to me. From my elementary school years, whenever I was asked by people about my dream, I answered like "My dream is to be a teacher. I like to spend my life teaching students and guiding them well." Unfortunately, due to a car accident, I had to spend three years of my elementary school yeras in several hospitals. But it didn't make me stop dreaming of being a teacher. Of course, it took pretty long time to catch up on lessons and keep up with othre friends when I returned my school.
But slowly I could adjust to school life again and hold my dream until my university years.
Because of the experiences, I can understand less competent student better and take care of them with more concern and care. Definately, I enjoy my life as a teacher! I hope I can provide enough support and care to students who can't find the meanings of their lives using my past experiences. I hope to be the person who students can come and talk to whenever they need any help in their lives.
At the same time, as a English teacher, I hope I can fully develop my teaching skills as well as my English abilities. I think being a nice counsellor is not enough for a professional teacher. Nowdays many Koreans are interested in communicating with people from all around the world. I hope I can be a good facilitator to encourage students to be fear-free in English and take a positive attitude to learn. I'm not sure about who I am as a teacher now. BUT what I shared in above is where I'm aiming at and who I want to be in the near future. ^^ thank you!!

I am so happy to talk about my career and my life as a teacher.
First of all, I have been teaching English for eight years. I am working in a private Christian school. However, private schools are finacialy supported by the same school board as the pulbic schools. Therefore, the educational systems are almost similar.
My goal as a teacher is to encourage my students to do their best in fields they are good at. I believe God gives everyone special talents. I hope I can help my students find their own abilities and pursue their happiness in their lives. I am trying to pull out my students' potentials. I think Engish is a kind of tool to accomplish the goals of my students. Through English, my students can devote themselves to making the world better in their areas. Without English, it would be impossible.
Even though I try to motivate my students in many ways, since I came to Korea, I've realized that I have to make my students speak and write more and more . I am continuously thinking about how to make class more focused on speaking and writing Enlgish. I am also thinking hard about how to apply what I have learnd in Canada to my class. I am expecting I will learn a lot more in Humber and apply them in Korea. That makes me so excited.
I am looking forward to rest of the days in Humber.

Being a teacher is more than teaching subject matters. In other words, teaching is not merely giving some knowledge, but, more of exchanging ideas, opinions, and/or emotions between teachers and students. And, sharing experiences with teachers will affect students' behaviors, thoughts, even in their future. Therefore, teachers are required to have a sense of responsibility for their students. Since students are our future, teaching is "preparing our future."

In respect of that, I'm not a perfect model teacher. But, at least, I'm trying to be that. Though I still have lots of things I need to develop to become a great teacher, I'm trying to show them who I am honestly. They would look at how I deal with things, how I react in different situations, etc. I hope, through that kind of observation, they will learn some virtues that are really important in one's life, such as diligency, honesty, and so on.

To be a teacher is hard but valuable. Teacher can give influence to students in two ways.
As you guess, one is favorable and the other is harmful.

To give beneficial influences, we teachers always have to try and do our best. Of course, it's very hard for us to keep trying. Sometimes we tend to be frustrate. But we also should keep in mund that our students watch us all the time. So, to be a teacher is very hard. But when we look after our students grow not only physically but also mentally from our good influences, there's no greater work than this.

Teahcers, be proud of our work!

Nowadays, to be a teacher we should continuously practice ourselves a lot of things to catch up with the advanced technologies like compurtes. Actually, I had lots of difficuties to log in.

I think a teacher should be qualified for many aspects like being professional in the field, being sociable with students, and be passionate in teaching and learning. Also, teachers should be able to motivate students to feel comfortable and do better in their work. Moreover, we should accept the fact that we make mistakes now and then and also learn from our students because teachers are not perfect men although most people think we should be. Still, the most important thing is teachers should balance things between what we know and how to implement them well in our class.

As a teacher, I've been struggling with all kinds of these. When I'm being generous and sociable with students, they tend to go beyond the limitation. Fortunately, however, I've been learning a number of things through teaching years and other co-workers. Even though I have to go through many bad and good days, I really like my job and students. I hope that I can help my students more through this course.

Hi!

I think...
A teacher is a person who helps his students pursue their dreams.
A good teacher is like a hard-working farmer who sows some seeds and takes care of his crops without giving up them until he reaps them.
Like this, a teacher should cultivate the students' ability.

I know what a good teacher is very well.
So, many times I am disappointed in myself.
It is a long way to be a good teacher.

Anyway,
I am glad to be here.
We have 8 weeks more.
I am looking forward to leaving Canada.KKK
I miss my kids so much.
I hope that this program in Humber will be the greatest time of our whole training program.

Enjoy your time!

it is very difficult question to give an answer. I want to be a teacher who is able to give innovation to students. As for me, teaching pupils means to help, guide, lead, evoke students have ambition, dreams and to support them to pursue their dreams. I want to be person whom my students can respect for, love and hate.

I am really proud of myself to be a teacher. As a teacher, I feel a lot of responsibilities for taking care of each student in the aspect of not only teaching but also counseling.
I feel sometimes disappointed by students' bad behaviors and bad grades, but I also feel satisfied when they show me great development in learning as well as emotion.
I think that my professionalism as an English teacher still needs more improvement to teach with confidence. This course seems to be challengeable and difficult so that I am worried how I will manage to the tasks waiting for me. Although I feel very nervous now, but I believe that I will be able to see my great development as a teacher by the time I leave for Korea.
I'm looking forward to seeing my students with confidence and comfort.
It's time to start another challenge! Even though, I will make lots of mistakes and errors, I will not feel afraid.
I hope other teachers will be healty and enjoy thier time in the rest of stays.

Nice to see you on the blog! My name is Park, Hyo Jeong. I had taught at boy's middle school from 1999 to 2003. I have been teaching at coeducational middle school since 2004. This year will be the tenth year of my teaching. I believe this tesol course will be a turning point of my teaching career.
I am a passionate and energetic teacher. I enjoy sharing ideas with my students rather than giving my idea to them. To me, being a teacher means being an example. In Korean, the word,Seonsang(teacher in English)means a person who experienced and learned something before others. I always do my best to be an good example to my students. I show my mistakes or failures to be examples, also. I believe they can learn through both ways. That's why I try to broaden my knowledge and experience in terms of not only English but also life itself. Hopefully I'd like to improve my teaching skills and to experience various culture to be a better teacher throughout this course.

Technically to be a teacher means to be qualified. Of course a teacher to be meet the needs like an entrance test. But substantially it requires many skills and perseverance based on warm heart. Student need the teacher to guide to a better way.
Even though I'm a 9 year-experienced teacher, I'm still shy in terms of being a proffesional teacher.

I think teaching is a very professional job. So I need full knowledge about my subject. I try to update myself to get more information about teaching English and that's the reason why I joined this course left behind my family in Korea. Also a teacher need love for students. Teachers sometimes can be friends to talk to, or advicers to guide life, or helpers for their lives. But I know I couldn't be one to all of my students.

For me, as a teacher, I want to help my students to learn not only English but also what is happiness.
So I think a teacher should be a good example of both learning and life.
As an Enlish teacher, I feel I am not a good teacher. Because I don't have enough ability to use English. So even though I'm alredy old, I applied for this Canada learning program. After this program, when I come back to Korea, I want to continue practicing English to improve my English using ability on the basis of these experiences.
